On Saturday a friend of mine and I met up downtown for a street photography mission. We started walking up 8th Avenue shooting random photos of people walking by and interesting things we saw. As we were walking along something very interesting caught my eye, it was the Canon Image Square. I had heard about this place and had been meaning to go check it out. It looks like Canon only camera store, but they don’t sell anything! They got every lens and camera Canon makes and you can try them all out! They also have a little studio space you can rent out.
One of the fun things they have is all these little mini world scenes set up for you to test out the cameras and lenses. At first I was just using my own Canon 5D mark iii & 50mm 1.4 & 28mm 1.8, but then I decided to give their 8-15mm Fisheye a go, WHOA! What fun little lens. Once I got that on I was burning around shooting up a storm as fast as I could since I knew my friend wanted to get back to the streets. I think we’ll head back again when we got more time, because I could spend hours in that place and I’m sure I will! haha. Anyhow, if you live in or around Calgary and your interested in photography this place is a MUST! It’s at 545 8th Avenue SW in the city. If you make it there I hope you had as much fun as I did! 😉

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Great test shots!
Thank you, that fisheye is definitely a fun little lens. I can’t wait to go back and try out some other lenses. I am most interested in the 85mm 1.2.
wow…what an awesome idea for camera enthusiasts!!!
Totally right! It’s amazing there, you’d love it! 🙂
Camera porn! What fun to have a store like that.
Oh ya for sure! That place is awesome! 🙂
I want to PLAY!!!! OMG how fun would that store be? Thank you for sharing now I am going to start looking for one of these places.
Yes Deborah! It is indeed AWESOME! 🙂 I hope you find one.
1. What lighting did they have? I noticed high ISO but no colour cast.
2. Will they also lend you a body if you don’t have a Canon camera?
3. Wish I had one of these nearer to me (PEI)
4. Thanks for sharing…very informative.
1. They just had track lighting through out, maybe a little bit brighter than the average store. The 5D mark iii is great with high ISO.
2. If you look at pictures 5-6-8 & the last one you see they have some cameras set up. You can use those, but they are attached on little wires, so you can’t walk around the store with them.
3. Hope you get one!
4. No problem, thanks for visiting my blog ;).
So Rob, when can we expect the Canon Fish Eye Lens competition to start?
You must have slipped 2 or 3 into your pocket 🙂
Hahaha! Ya not likely anytime soon Nicky :D.
What a fantastic idea from Canon and what better way to get you interested in buying new glass than to let you see how great their lens’ are so your creative mind just explodes with possibilities. Thanks for sharing…now if only Nikon would rip this idea off in my area 🙂
For sure a great idea! Yes, for your sake I hope Nikon does just that 🙂
Sooo many lenses, so little time! Holy cow! That’s a LOT of equipment.
I know right! I gotta make it back there.
Love your photography!
Thank you! 😀
Looks like a lot of fun there! Would be a blast to test out all of that equipment.
Ya for sure! I’m gonna head back down there soon 🙂
