Penticton Creek

I just happened to be walking by this creek at just the right time it seemed. I saw the spot where I took this picture from the corner of my eye while I was walking by with my family. I told my family to keep going and I would catch up and ran over to the creek. I shot a few photos and just as I was about leave I saw this girl walking onto the bridge. I quickly whipped my camera back up and snapped the photo. It was a lucky break that she came walking along with her dog, because the photo with an empty bridge is just not the same.

Just Weeks before with Amy & Dwight

I went kicking around Princes Island Park with Amy & Dwight the other day to shoot some engagement photos. Funny thing about this photo session is it was only a few weeks away from the actual wedding! Not exactly typical, but who cares ;). We really lucked out with the weather because the days leading up to the shoot were really ugly out and then on the day the sun was shinning and it was sweater weather. Good weather, good people and a good location is a recipe for fun and that’s what happened.

I also shot a bit of video along the way too and have added it here if your into that sort of thing.

An Old Sunset

This picture was just sitting on my computer for the past few years. I was never planning on doing anything with it, but I needed something for my Instagram account yesterday and I just decided to post this one. It’s not a bad picture, but I just didn’t excite me. However, there is a peaceful feel to the photo that does have it’s own quality. Figured I might as well just toss it up here too :).

Spokane Nights

I love wandering the streets of Spokane at night looking for photos. Riverfront park is probably one of my favourite parts of the city. There are tons of great locations to shoot photos in a very condensed area. This view is one of my favourite of the city. I love locations where I can sit, enjoy an urban park by the water with the view of a beautiful city.

Autumn Spokane View

The last time I went to Spokane in the fall I got a pretty wicked room that had this beautiful view! The deck was actually massive and I really should have got a picture of it, but I guess I forgot haha. Anyhow, if you want a good view this hotel (The Red Lion) has a lot of good rooms with nice views.

I thought might as well add a picture of myself on the the deck too ;).

Snowy Landscape

Anytime I get out in the mountains for some photos it’s a good time. This day was particularly beautiful. The right combination of bright light and clean snow makes for a good landscape view.

Spokane River Warmth

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-24-70mm-l-f2-8I was kicking around the Spokane River this weekend. The weather was pretty warm and it made for a leisurely stroll around the river. I’m not sure what the temperature was, but it was warm enough that I wasn’t at all concerned about comfortably at any point. When you got November weather like that, it’s easy to hang out and take pictures all night long. 🙂

Lake House Wedding: Sunyoung & Santi

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-24-70mm-f2-8-l-5d-mark-iiiAnytime I book a wedding in late October or early November in Calgary I worry about how the weather will be. Usually this time of year we are walking around in snow! Sunyoung and Santi’s November wedding definitely had me concerned about what kind of weather we were going to be dealing with. Lucky for us, the weather was great! Well, at first it was decent, as in not snowing or cold. Since the ceremony was indoors the overcast sky didn’t really bother me.

Of course the ceremony went wonderful and since this was a day wedding we had an amazing lunch at the Lake House at Lake Bonavista. As usual I was moving around the venue shooting my photos, all while keeping my eye on the windows to see how the skies were looking. Once it was time for us to leave the venue to our photo shoot the skies had yet to clear up. Overcast can be a wonderful friend while shooting wedding photos, but some blue sky and sun is always nice too. Either way I’ll make it work, but then I saw a few breaks in the sky and had my fingers crossed for a bit of sun.

As luck would have it, about 20 minutes into our photo shoot the sun decided to make an appearance and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! We had just finished setting up by the river and wa-la, the sun! I couldn’t have been happier and I am sure Sunyoung & Santi feel the same way.

All photos shot with a Canon 5D mark iii, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 & 1 580EXii Speedlite

Early Winter

Minolta 50mm f/1.4

Minolta 50mm f/1.4

Winter has hit a little early in Calgary this year! I decided to head out and take a look around the city last night and see how it looked. It was pretty foggy out and I think the fog really added something nice to the picture. It looks quiet to me, and it was. I guess everyone was inside trying to stay warm. 😉

Secluded Peace

exif-data-rob-moses-photography-canon-5d-mark-iii-300mm-f2-8-lTaking pictures of a city a night has a special kind of magic to it. I find this especially true when you are in a dark and secluded place like I was for this shot. My location was completely quiet and I was very much alone. Peaceful, relaxing and exciting all at the same time. I love it. 🙂

Montana Sunset

rob moses exif data canon 6d 50mm 1.8I was down in Great Falls, Montana over the last weekend. I drove by this massive flag while I was there and knew I had to get a sunset shot with that flag. I would have liked to have also had the town in the picture, but I still like how this one looks.

Pieces to the Puzzle

This picture is kind of cool because of all the action going on. At first glance you might not even notice, but there really is a lot happening. First off and most importantly, the couple walking across the bridge. Then of course the people on the boat and the other people about to launch their boat. Another important piece to this photo is the train going by in the background. I waited quite a while to get that train going by and to have a good shot of some people on the bridge before shooting the photo. All these little things might not be much interest to most people, but to me they all come together to make this picture something I can appreciate.

Blue & Red

Sony a7ii & Canon FD 50mm 1.2

Everyone seems to shoot photos at this bridge in Calgary, and why not its beautiful! I have been here a bunch of times, but on this occasion I decided to stand balancing on the back part of one of the benches there to get a little extra hight. I shot this one handheld with my Sony a7ii & Canon FD 50mm f/1.2. I can’t remember my exact settings, I think I was shooting around f/5.6 or so. I have said this before, but the image stabilization on the a7ii is just wonderful.

Oh and that title! Well you know, blue night and a red bridge. 😉
