Last night I went to the hockey game (as I often do). The Calgary Flames were hosting the New York Rangers and this time I decided I’d try to bring a camera along. I didn’t want to bring a proper DSLR with a big white lens that screams “HEY LOOK AT ME! I’M TAKING PICTURES!” lol. So I grabbed my Samsung NX100 Mirrorless with a 18-200mm OIS lens. I got to cap off a few shots during the first period, but then during the 2nd some one that works for the Saddledome (Flames Arena) came and told me I couldn’t take pictures with a camera that had interchangeable lenses. I kind of knew even that camera would be a problem, but figured it was wroth a try :).
This last picture I took with my iPhone 4s.
Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Wow, awesome shots, Rob!! Well done! Cher xo
Thank you Cher! 😀
Some nice shots, Rob. Shame about the score!
Thank you 🙂 And yes, a shame indeed! :(. Ah well, we’ll get em next time!
You weren’t allowed to take pictures with a camera that had interchangeable lenses? Why?
I really don’t know for sure there reasoning. I would assume it’s because they have their own photographers set up at the game in the first row and probably sell all the pictures to the news papers and such.
Yes, that’s probably why.
“Competition and free market? Not in our house!”
Nice shots for the limited time that you had for this. We often hear “no interchangeable lenses” at concerts but I’ve not heard of that at sporting events.
Ya it’s a shame they won’t let you take pictures with a proper camera.
Great photos, Rob! Funny: you can get fixed-lens cameras that give you all the reach of the NX100.
As you know, I’m a fan of the Samsung NX cameras. Unfortunately, I pawned all of my cameras yesterday to raise money. You see, I got this hot tip that the Flames would win. Guaranteed, 100 percent lock, or so my source said. So I pawned all of my camera gear, remortgaged the house, borrowed agains the 401(k), drew down my bank account. I also sold a bunch of blood plasma, and I’ve been woozy ever since.
I also told Vinnie that I’d be good for the rest of the bet. Maybe that was a mistake.
Of course, we know now how that ended. Vinnie’s already calling, telling me a couple of the boys are going to be coming around . . .
Oh, well. I guess I should know better than to listen to what some guy tells me on Twitter!
Cheers,
Dan
Hahahaha, oh my! You actually made me laugh out loud very hard this morning! lol. Your hilarious! Yes, don’t trust crazy people on twitter who clearly have no clue what they are talking about 😉 haha.
I love the shot from behind the net, we do not see these angle often in the newspaper’s sport pages
Thank you 🙂
great – awesome shot – we all enjoyed watching the game too!
Thank you 😀
I saved this post for my son to see today when he came over for Christmas. He is a huge hockey fans (Blackhawks) and I knew he would love your photography! He sure did! Thanks, Rob.
Oh that’s awesome! Thank you for sharing 🙂 Merry Christmas! 😀
At least they did not want to witness you deleting the pix! They look good. But the reasoning for this rule is very strange!
Ya no kidding hey! Ah well, what are ya good do :).
