The Path To Glory!

As you walk up to this path/bridge that takes you down to this amazing dock in Portland, you begin to see the amazing view and unique texture of your soundings. The ruff dock, the slick path if it’s been raining, the glassy or raindrop filled river and of course the amazing skyline view. It’s all here in this one spot for you to take in for as long as your heart desires. It’s a wonderful place and when you set foot on that dock for the first time, it is nothing short of glorious.

Hey Guy!

Here is another Fujifilm X-T2 straight out of camera shot (no edits). This guy was parked here and taking pictures looking the other direction. I wanted to get a picture with his face in it, so I yelled “Hey Guy!” haha. Judging by the direction of his eyes he must have thought it was someone else yelling at him. 🤣

Fujifilm JPEG in Portland

I have been hearing about how amazing the Fujifilm jpegs are for sometime now. I decided it might be time to give Fuji a closer look and see if the photos lived up to the hype. I had been planning on heading back down to Portland to hang out for a few days and I thought why not take a Fujifilm X-T2 with me to see how it handles. First off, the camera was a joy to use and the 16-55mm f/2.8 and 56mm f/1.2 I was using were amazing! Both lenses were super sharp and created and pleasing bokeh. Anyhow, I am not doing a full review on any of the gear, but I will be posting some pictures over the next couple weeks that I took with the Fuji setup. I will only be posting straight out of camera jpegs, because the cameras filters and in camera edit style settings is what has really attracted me to the camera itself. So here’s the first one of many to come. I don’t think this is the best shot I got with the camera, but it’s one I like :).

RIU Hotel

Sony a7ii

When I was down in Cancun last I walked by this hotel many times. I like the way it looks, wide and simple. This place was right next to the hotel I was staying at, so one night I went over and shot this photo from a quarantined off staircase on an old mall. The staircase gave me just a little extra hight that I needed to get a good view of the street and hotel together.

DIY Deadcat Mic Windscreen

I made a DIY video on how to make a Deadcat style windscreen out of the tail of a stuffed cat (teddy bear) haha. I did a couple tests and it worked really good! If you care about your video’s audio you might like this video. 🙂

Beautiful Palace

exif-data-rob-moses-sony-a7ii-zeiss-24-70mmI took to the streets one night in Cancun to shoot some long exposures. This was the very first picture I took that night and I could have easily just walked right back into my hotel and been happy haha. They got some really beautiful resorts around Cancun, and this one is one of my favourite.

Surfer Dude

Sony a7ii

Sony a7ii

I was wondering around the streets of Isla Mujeres (a small island off the cost of Cancun) on day when I noticed this guy sitting here. He looked like a surfer dude who came straight out of the 1960’s to me. Well if they had cell phones in the 60’s haha. Anyhow, the dude has a real vintage vibe and I thought it matched up with the scene just perfect.

Cancun Reflection

exif-data-settings-rob-moses-sony-a7ii-24-70mm-zeissI shot this one in the hotel zone of Cancun Mexico. I had to walk across this ledge of a building to set up the shot. The window used in the reflection had some type of mirror coating on it and it worked wonders for the photo.

I have added a shot from my Instagram account showing where I shot this photo from. You can see the window I used for this photo on the further side of me. I was set up at the far corner.

Our Cancun Trip

rob-moses-exif-data-sony-a7ii-24-70mmSo as you may already know my family and I took a trip to Cancun Mexico recently. As you can imagine I took a lot of pictures. I will be sharing some of the Mexico pictures on here over the next little while, but I though I’d drop a bunch at once right now to give you an idea of how the trip looked. It was warm, fun and I’m looking forward to the next one!

Cold Kal Lake

exif-data-rob-moses-sony-a7ii-55mm-1-8-zeissKal Lake in Vernon, BC is awesome! I spend more time there in the summer than the winter and when I am there in the winter I don’t usually get out for too many photos. Thing is, I’m not all that into winter, so getting out that door with my camera is a bit of a struggle. Thankfully my kids pretty much dragged me out the door on this day and I figured I’d be crazy if I didn’t bring my camera along. The weather wasn’t exactly at it’s best, but it had a calm to it that I think I captured in the photo. Right after this shot that calm ended pretty quick when my kids started tossing the biggest rocks they could find into the lake ;).

Snowy Landscape

Anytime I get out in the mountains for some photos it’s a good time. This day was particularly beautiful. The right combination of bright light and clean snow makes for a good landscape view.

Tokie The Cat

Sony a7ii & 55mm 1.8

Sony a7ii & 55mm 1.8

This lovely little creature is my wife’s parents family cat. Her name is Tokie and the shenanigans she has caused over the years has been that of legend. To keep things as brief as possible I will tell you just one Tokie Tale.

Last summer while visiting, I was letting Tokie inside before I went to bed. I open the front door and call for her. Sure enough like a good cat she comes prancing up to the door. As Tokie is nonchalantly walking by, I kind of notice something by her face. I close the door and scurry over to her as she’s walking down the stairs. When I stop her to get a better look I see a scene that looks straight out of a cartoon. There it is, a little tail wiggling around!!! “TOKIE!” I got her trapped half way down the staircase at a corner turn and lunge forward to grab her. In true cartoon style she spits the little mouse out! LOL The next thing I know I am franticly shoeing away a cat and trying to save a mouse. The mouse lays on the floor for 2 or 3 seconds as Tokie makes a run for it, then BOING! The mouse is back up on all fours and dashing from one way to the next. As I try and keep him in the corner I call for back up (waking up more than a few people I’m sure). Once the calvary arrives we get the mouse in tupperware container and back out the front door to fight another day. That mouse had one hell of a story to tell and just by the fur of his neck he had the chance to tell it. 🙂

Tokie the cat is a wild one to say the least, but I wouldn’t (and neither would she) have it any other way!
