Stacey & Benn Back Then

These photos are of Stacey and Benn and I shot them last month. Obviously the lovely couple has already received their photos, but I just couldn’t find the time to get them up here. Anyhow, I had such a good time with these two and even though the weather was being super crazy the night we shot photos everyone still had fun and we got some good shots. The light was constantly changing and the wind was defiantly blowing and that makes for a some what difficult shoot. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, I fun times of the shoot were! 🙂

Brittany & Ben

I did an engagement shoot with Brittany & Ben last weekend. The weather was calling for rain and Brittany & Ben are in town from England and were leaving the next day, so rescheduling the shoot wasn’t exactly an option. Lucky for us the rain let up for pretty much the whole shoot. Thanks for that sky! I had so much fun with these two. Many laughs were had and we got some cool shots! Fingers crossed for better weather during the wedding next year, but either way I know we’ll have a good time and get some good pictures :).

A Walk On The Beach

My 8 year old son shot this photo of my wife and I walking on the beach in Cancun Mexico this past winter. I edited the photo for him, but he did a good job with the rest. 🙂

Abandoned House Mannequin

Last weekend a friend of mine and I went out to High River, Alberta to check out this abandoned neighbourhood. The whole neighbourhood was built on in a flood zone and of course it had been flooded. The province(state) decided the residence could no longer live there so they bought everyone out. Anyhow, we walked around and checked out the scene and there really wants much to see, just looked like an empty neighbourhood because all the house are too new and the city is still cutting the grass. Once it got dark we dragged this mannequin into the neighbourhood (you could not drive in) and set it up in front  of this house for some weirdo shots haha.

We used one LED to camera left, another to camera right behind the tree lighting up house and one Canon 580EX ii Speedlite directly behind the mannequin for rim light.

It’s kind of a weird picture, but we had fun taking it! 🙂

Sunny Beach

Screen Shot 2017-05-20 at 3.11.10 PM

I took this picture while I was down in Cancun Mexico last. This particular beach seemed to get a ton of sun and had some really beautiful blue water. The sand was nice, the people were cool and I loved it! I kinda wish I was there right now to be honest with you. 😎

Straight Out of Camera Strangers

I am the proud new owner of the Fujifilm 56mm f/1.2 lens! I just got it yesterday and I had to go test it out, but I needed some people to take pictures of. I zipped over to Crescent Road in Calgary and met some strangers who didn’t mind having their picture taken. The featured picture is of Jesis, he was shooting a time lapse so I went over and started talking to him and after some Instagraming I got a picture of him. I also met this really friendly girl who was taking pictures of the skyline with her phone. We go to talking and we made a deal that I’d take some pictures of her with her phone and then I’d take some with my camera haha. Then the black and white picture, well these guys just came up to me lol. These guys were also out taking pictures and just came over to see what kind of pictures I was getting. Of course, I had to get a shot these kindred spirits. The night was fun and I got to meet some really cool people, always bonus!

All the pictures are straight out of the camera with no edits. Except for the B&W and the city shot. I just wanted to see how the color Fuji files would turn out in a black and white conversation. And the city shot just needed a touch of contrast a tiny pull back on the highlights.

The sun was in full sunset mode casting a very warm/pinkish light here↖︎.

Fujifilm JPEG in Portland

I have been hearing about how amazing the Fujifilm jpegs are for sometime now. I decided it might be time to give Fuji a closer look and see if the photos lived up to the hype. I had been planning on heading back down to Portland to hang out for a few days and I thought why not take a Fujifilm X-T2 with me to see how it handles. First off, the camera was a joy to use and the 16-55mm f/2.8 and 56mm f/1.2 I was using were amazing! Both lenses were super sharp and created and pleasing bokeh. Anyhow, I am not doing a full review on any of the gear, but I will be posting some pictures over the next couple weeks that I took with the Fuji setup. I will only be posting straight out of camera jpegs, because the cameras filters and in camera edit style settings is what has really attracted me to the camera itself. So here’s the first one of many to come. I don’t think this is the best shot I got with the camera, but it’s one I like :).

Coffee & A Wedding: Amy & Dwight

Amy and Dwight were so much fun! As I am sure you can tell from the pictures these two and their friends are a riot to be around and it was a pleasure for me to be able to be a part of their day. We started out at a coffee shop the girls have spent a lot of time hanging out in, and it was a wonderful idea because I absolutely love the photos we got there! Then we stopped off at this little park and shot a few more photos. The actual wedding photo shoot part of our day was by far the quickest I have ever shot. We had a whopping 15 minutes to shoot our photos! lol. As you can imagine the shoot was peddle to the metal trying to get as many pictures as we could in such a short time. To my surprise we were able to get what we needed and everyone was pretty relaxed :). Amy and Dwight seem like the type of people that no matter what the situation is, they will find a way to make it fun and that’s exactly what this wedding was.

Thanks for the fun wedding! Rob

Penticton Creek

I just happened to be walking by this creek at just the right time it seemed. I saw the spot where I took this picture from the corner of my eye while I was walking by with my family. I told my family to keep going and I would catch up and ran over to the creek. I shot a few photos and just as I was about leave I saw this girl walking onto the bridge. I quickly whipped my camera back up and snapped the photo. It was a lucky break that she came walking along with her dog, because the photo with an empty bridge is just not the same.

Rugby Wedding: Lindsay & Vinny

Clearly Lindsay and Vinny both love Rugby! Oh and their cute dog, who played a big part in their wedding. When I first met with Lindsay and Vinny they told me they wanted to do some type of Ruby wedding shots and right away I was excited, because I had never done any wedding shots like that and I knew it would be fun. When wedding time came around it wasn’t often I didn’t see that ruby ball kicking around and their dog was definitely there for everything too. Lindsay and Vinny were super fun and easy to work with. Their wedding party and parents were a joy to be around and I think we all had a wonderful time together!

Note: The two people who caught the bouquet and garter belt(it was on the ball) are a couple. 🙂

Thanks for a fun wedding Lindsay & Vinny!

Just Weeks before with Amy & Dwight

I went kicking around Princes Island Park with Amy & Dwight the other day to shoot some engagement photos. Funny thing about this photo session is it was only a few weeks away from the actual wedding! Not exactly typical, but who cares ;). We really lucked out with the weather because the days leading up to the shoot were really ugly out and then on the day the sun was shinning and it was sweater weather. Good weather, good people and a good location is a recipe for fun and that’s what happened.

I also shot a bit of video along the way too and have added it here if your into that sort of thing.

Vlog: Calgary Event Awards

If you caught my post from a couple of weeks back (here), you know I was up for Best Photographer at the Calgary Event Awards. Instead of packing a camera along for the ride as I normally would, I decided I would shoot some video for my vlog instead. Watch the video and see how it all went down. It was a fun night and I hope to be back again soon!

Thanks for stopping by, Rob

Note: If you haven’t noticed I have added a vlog page here (found on the main menu). I will add vlogs as I make them. I don’t have any set days that I will be posting them yet, but they should be once a week at the very least. If your into that sort of thing you can just subscribe to my youtube channel at YouTube.com/RobMoses.
