Fujifilm on the streets

Lately I’ve been missing shooting with my Fujifilm camera. I just loved all the little dials and nobs for changing your settings. The small camera (X-T2 in this case) made photography a little extra fun for me. The only thing is, I know I can get better images using my Sony camera (on account of the wider dynamic range), but there is something to be said about the experience of taking the picture too. If one camera is more fun to use but the final images are not as good, or maybe just different I suppose what does one do? I guess that’s just it, maybe I should look at it more like the old film days, one film is one way and the other another. Anyhow, I’m not certain I’ll acquire another Fujifilm camera, but I do miss them.

Here are a few street shots I took with the Fujifilm X-T2 in Portland Oregon. It should be noted that these images were shot as jpegs. I have the raw files on a hard drive somewhere but I didnt feel like digging them out. Even though the photos were jpegs I think the camera did a pretty good job giving me a decent starting point for the images.

Camera: Fujifilm X-T2 & 16-55mm f/2.8

Thanks for stopping by, Rob

  1. If photography was about image photographers like Ansel Adam or Henri Cartier Bresson would all be has been we’ve never heard off. I guess the question is, “why do you miss using the Fujifilm and was your reason for switching to Sony really valid or more about FOMO?”

    • Argh! Spell check!

      • Spell check? As for switching to Sony, I am afraid you are confused. When I first bought a Fujifilm camera I was already all in with a complete Sony kit along with a full Canon kit. When I started buying Fujifilm cameras I had no intention of using them for professional work. They were just little fun cameras I would take out in the street and for travel. I’m not saying they are not capable of professional work, but that was never my intention in buying a Fujifilm camera.

As for why I miss Fuji, if that is the question I thought I answered it in the blog post. Like I said, I miss the dials and nobs. I find they make the camera more fun to use.

      • haha I hear you! I would be over the moon if Sony put some Fuji dials and knobs on top of an a7 iii :). I might have to grab another one just for biking around this summer haha. We’ll see. The X-T4 is coming out soon, so might be able to find a cheap X-T2 or something soon. 😉

What are you shooitng with these days? I think I’m going to ditch the a7R ii pretty soon. The file size is just to big for my liking. I’ll probably keep the mark i though just because its so solid.
