I had such a wonderful time shooting this wedding! I won’t bore with all the reasons why, but in short Ryan is family, he’s a cool guy along with his wife and all their friends were fun to be around. Now clearly Kelsey & Ryan chose a beautiful location for their wedding. Anytime in Banff is a good time, but when your shooting photo of people you know and love, it is extra special and that is exactly how this day went.
Straight away in the morning I went over to Ryan’s hotel room where the men were getting ready. These guys were having a time as the men tend to do, cheers’n and watching “How to tie a tie” videos on YouTube and what not ;). I tried not to get in the way, shot some photos and then scooted over to the room where Kelsey and the ladies were getting ready. The good times were also rolling over there, although a little more civilized fun times were defiantly going on.
The ceremony was beautiful as you would expect a Banff ceremony to be. This was followed by some group shots and then the wedding party and I took off to our first location which was just behind the hotel. Now you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, except for this little breeze that was causing a bit of a ruckus. Right as we were set up to shoot one of our first formal photos the wind got so crazy my very heavy tripod with its flash blew right over, I turned to see it fall and when I looked back up Kelsey’s veil was flying off in the wind down the steep hill behind her! Lucky for the fast action of Ryan and his brother they were able to retrieve the veil without tumbling down the hill themselves. That veil taking off ended up working out though, as I think the shot we got was better without it.
Our next location was up a gondola to the top of a beautiful mountain overlooking the Rockies! Again, the location was out of this world and again, , , so was that wind!😅 Right when we got there we had this group of tourists ask to take a picture with the bridesmaids (bride & groom were MIA), that was hilarious, then another couple ask to get some shots with the bride and groom! Celebrity status was going down on that mountain for sure. Anyhow, the views were amazing and the walk to the peak was filled with laughter and joy. Shooting photos was easy up there, because when you have a beautiful couple and a backdrop to die for the book kind of writes itself.
I could go on and on about this wedding, but I won’t because this post is already insanely long. I will leave you with this, if you want to have the wedding of a life time, get your family together and head to Banff, Alberta Canada! Congratulations Ryan & Kelsey and thanks for taking me a long for the ride. 😉

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
This is so cute! I love the Uggs and the pinecones in the cake. Looks (and sounds) like such a fun time. Great photos, Rob.
Thank you so much! 😀👍🏽
I love your pictures, you all look so happy and beautiful.
Thank you very much! 🙂
Your photos are stunning as usual, but that backdrop! So how cold was it? I thought it was cute the girls in boots and short/short sleeve dresses. But did I mention that backdrop, how incredible for them to be presented with those photos in that setting. Stunning.
You should really consider submitting some of these to The Knot magazine.
Thanks Deborah! Those magazine are always emailing me asking to submit, but I can’t be bothered haha. I really should though, 😅.
A superb job on the photos, Rob.
Thank you very much David! 😀👍🏽
Glorious!!
Thank you! 🙂
