Crystal Ball

So my friend Allen has been shooting a bunch of photos with this crystal ball he got. We were out shooting photos the other night and he pulled out the ball. I had just finished shooting a photo I wanted to get at the location we were at and he was still going at it. Since it was all set up I thought I’d shoot a quick photo with it in the other direction. In the edit I decided to flip my photo upside down so the image in the ball would seem right side up to the viewer. It’s a fun photo and I can see why Allen likes using it in his pictures.

Ice Cream Night

When I set up for this photo I had no intentions of having any people in the shot. I just wanted to get the sign and the building in the frame. I was all set up and waiting for a bunch of cars to go by so I could capture all the lights. These 3 girls walked up and where waiting for the light to change. I was making some adjustments and snapping a few pictures. The girl with the ice cream asked if I was snapping pictures of them, because they could pose. I laughed and said I was just interested in the sign. However, after l got home and looked at the test shots with the girls, I liked that one better than the one with the car lights. So as it turns out I guess I was taking their picture haha.

PS: That’s my buddy Allen in the bottom left of the photo haha. He was shooting his own photo. Actually I ended up shooting a photo in that exact same spot with that ball of his on the rail. I’ll post that picture next.

More City

This is another angle from an evening a couple of weeks ago. I was hopping for a wicked sunset, but just got a bit of dusk haha. This picture is still alright. 🙂

Winter Rocky Mountains

Well it’s still very much winter around here (in Alberta)! But at least it make the mountains look nice. 🙂

Sunset Over There

I went out on Sunday night hopping to get a shot of the sunset over the Eastside of downtown Calgary. I stopped off at couple different spots before landing on this location. I made my way down the side of this little hill, set my camera up and waited. Unfortunately there were too many clouds over the mountains to the west and not enough over the buildings over the east side of the city. Not all was lost though, because I was able to get this shot and to be honest I am happy things worked out the way they did, because I would never have set out to take this angle and now that I see the finished product I rather like it. 🙂

Waves

My family and I took a little hike out to a place called Colomitos Beach. The beach is about a 15 minute drive outside of the Puerto Vallarta and then you need to either do a 45 minute hike or take a boat. We did the hike and when we hit the beach the boys were loving it!

Puerto Vallarta Sunset

I shot this photo a couple of days ago on the first night we arrived here in Puerto Vallarta. It was a pretty wicked sunset and I have watched couple other good ones since. I think I am going to try to catch one from down on the beach one of these days too.

2010 Seattle

I was poking around some old pictures of mine the other day and I came across this one. I shot it back in 2010 from West Seattle. It’s not the entire skyline, but it’s a nice little bit of it. I miss living in the Pacific North West, because you can actually get out during the winter and not freezing to death haha.

Snowy Edmonton

I was up in Edmonton last weekend and it was super cold and snowy! I stopped off at my favourite photo spot and shot a few quick city shots before I left town.

Great Falls Sunset

I don’t get down to Montana as much as one might think you would living in Calgary. It’s relatively close to get down there, but every time I leave the city I find myself wanting to get back to Washington or Oregon and that’s where I usually go. I think I am going to make an effort to find my way around Montana this summer and check out more of what the state as to offer. I shot this photo in Great Falls, Montana.

PDX Corner

Just the corner of a random street in Portland. These pictures are from quite awhile ago. I was just passing by here one day and snapped the shots without much thought. I came across the pictures on my computer this morning and figured I’d share them. 🙂

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

When I was in Hawaii last summer I obviously took a trip out to Pearl Harbor. I’m not a big war buff or anything, but it was pretty interesting to see all that stuff. I never saw those big rockets before, they are pretty amazing! I also toured a submarine and a battle ship which was fun to see. The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial (ship that sank) was crazy to be at. Right before you take the tour they show you this little film about what happened. Being out there is really something else and even if you’re not into that kind of thing I think you’d enjoy it.
