I took a quick little trip back down to Vancouver this week. I was only in town for two nights, so I made sure to make good use of what little time I had. I walked around shooting photo nearly the whole time I was there. I met up with an old friend of mine for a portrait shoot and the rest of the time I was just enjoying the city and shooting photos along the way.
This picture was one of the last shots I took on the trip. I wasn’t even planning on shooting photos this night, but I caught glimpses of the city and figured I’d better at least try and grab one more shot. I raced to this spot I knew where I could get a half decent view of the city and set up for the shot as quickly as I could. I was able to get this shot just before the sky turned black on me. Once I had this shot I knew I had everything I needed.
The second photo is one of those rare (for me) instances where I feel like the photo just looks better in black and white.
I shot a ton of photos in Vancouver, so you can expect this blog to be heavy on the Vancouver stuff for the next little while haha.
Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Oh, wow! I’m trying to think if I remember any B&W photo from you and I cannot. The light coming from all those windows is beautiful.
Haha ya I don’t really like black and white photos for some reason. I mean, on rare occasion I think it looks nice. But 99% of the time I prefer color.
Nice cityscapes, Rob!
Thank you very much!
I used to go to Vancouver a lot in the late 1990s on business trips. The company I consulted for had a large office and laboratory complex plus a corporate office in the city center in Vancouver. A couple of times, they tried to recruit me with a nice title, corner office, and help with relocation. I brought my first wife up there to see if she wanted to move to Vancouver. She loved the area but liked living in Denver better.
Oh wow, that’s cool. Ya Vancouver is such a nice city. I’ve never been to Denver, but I hear it’s nice. One of my friends has moved there actually.
Well, then, you have reason to come to Denver … at least to visit your friend. ๐ ๐
Yes! I’ll get down there one day soon! I’ll let ya know when I’m coming. Maybe we can bump into each other ๐
You bet! ๐
