I was at one of my favourite skyline view locations in Calgary getting a shot of the city yesterday. While I was there I noticed this man sitting in the grass reading. It looked like the scene out of a movie or something, so I thought it might make a good picture. I walked up the guy and asked him if he minded me taking his picture while he was reading. Lucky for me he was a very friendly person and clearly didn’t mind having his picture taken. After I shot the photo he ask me if I could send him the picture and of course I said I would be happy to do so. A phone number and a text later and I was on my way. Thanks for being so easy going Nick!
Thanks for stopping by, Rob
I thought this was a candid shot…..as in he had not a clue you were taking this. It’s a great photo! I especially like the bike in the background.
Haha I was shooting with a 55mm lens, so he would have to be REALLY into that book to not notice me taking his picture lol. Thanks about the picture! I really like that bike being there too. The bike adds a lot to the photo.
That’s a lovely photograph, and so good to hear you asked him and he didn’t mind! I’m starting to take some street scenes with my phone camera, I’m very careful not to take pictures where people can be clearly identified. But I haven’t dared ask anyone yet if they’d mind me photographing them. I hope when I do I get someone as easy going as Nick. It’s a lovely thing to do, little moments in time in someone’s life – preserved. Wonderful! 🙂
Thank you Suzy. I often take pictures of people up close on the street with out asking though haha. But in a situation like this where it’s not a busy city street and it’s just me and him it would have been insane to just walk up and start taking pictures lol. Anyhow, I hope you get out there and start making it happen on the streets :).
This photo really tells a story. A story I would love to be in, what a great shot.
Haha you know what’s funny about this shot. I bumped into this guy again at another good spot just around the corner! We had a nice little chat and enjoyed the amazing view :). I’ll have to grab another shot of him next time I see him 🙂
