This is one crazy lens! I had been aware of Lensbaby for a long time now, but I never had the opportunity to use one. Then one day last week, I walked into a random thrift store and I saw this lens sitting in a glass case. I ask to check it out to see if the lens was in good working order. I put the Lensbaby on my 5D mark iii and it worked like a dream. The price tag said $75, but since it was thrift store I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask if they could cut me a little slack on the price, lucky for me they were cool with that and I got the lens for a measly $50! (retail price $380 US dollars). Score one for the R-O-B! haha ;).
These are just a couple of test shots I have taken with the lens so far. The lens is full manual focus and it kind of spins around on a little ball head similar to a tripod head. The bokeh is pretty wicked on it, but getting your focus on point can be a challenge (just as with any manual focus lens). I’ll let this lens bounce around in my bag for the next few months and see if I can get any cool pictures with it. We’ll see if Lensbaby can earn a permanent spot in my collection.

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Wow Lensbaby is an awesome lens baby! Kidding about that I couldn’t resist with the name. I love how everything looks magical. Even a Starbucks cup! This is indeed a wonderful treasure you found can’t wait to see more of the results! Have a super day! Looks like you are already! 😀
Haha funny girl Michelle 😜. Yes the lens definitely has some interesting qualities. It should be fun to play with
Cool. Have fun experimenting! I wish I had a full format camera.
Thanks, will do. And yes, full frame is definitely the way to go.
Wow! All I find at the thrift store is beat up jeans. Have fun 🙂
Haha right! Amd it was a super random thift store too! Had some crazy name like “World Thrift Store” or something along those lines.
The Bokeh on the second photo (the bench and view of downtown) is very wicked, did you do some adjustment in post-production or it’s only the lens that gives that effect.
Ya it looks kinda cool. No i didnt do anything in regards to the bokeh in the post, i just did some light & colour adjustments.
Rob, you hate that lens so much that you’re going to box it up and send it to me, just to get it out of your sight!
LOL, funny guy Dan! ;).
Awesome. I want one!
Ya they are kinda cool :).
I am totally envious that you got this for the price you paid………what a great deal, obviously someone didn’t know what they had or maybe how to use it? Great find!
OH and if Dan decides he doesn’t like it……..
<———me, me, pick me LOL
Haha sure thing ;).
Yes! Great find indeed 😀
I would take it off you for $75 :-). Well done.
haha I’m sure you would. Thanks ;).
Wow, what a find! I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting a lens baby…still thinking about it (but I would certainly have picked one up at that price)! 🙂
Haha no kidding hey! I’ve had fun with it so far, however I’m not sure if I’d pay $400 for it. We’ll see how it goes :).
What a great find. Always fun to experiment with new camera equipment. Looks like you are getting some awesome shots with it right out of the bag.
Reblogged this on aliaptech1.
I would love one of these gadgets for $50.
Haha ya $50 is about the right price I’d say ;).
