This is my favourite apartment building in Calgary. A wonderful example of pre-war one architecture that is very hard to come by in this modern city.

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Again, I love the black and white but the first one is astonishingly beautiful and filled with light!
Thank you ๐ I couldn’t decide what one I like better haha.
Rob, that’s the Anderson building on 18th Ave SW, Right? I understand it used to be a hotel. That’s the street I live on and my fave building too – I’ve taken many pictures of it and I even got to see the inside once, hard wood floors, high ceilings and cupboards. I would love to live there!
Yes it is! That’s cool you live around there. It’s a great area :). I didn’t know it used to be a hotel, thanks for the info!
Seems the hotel bit may only be heresay. I found this online. It might interest you.

They filmed Fargo there!
Oh nice! ๐
Excellent images!
Thank you ๐
Fantastic, Rob! You know, I had to do a double-take because Chicago has so many buildings that look like this! It’s nice to know you have this gem in Calgary! Cher xo
Oh that is awesome! I have always wanted to visit Chicago. Hopefully someday soon I’ll make my way out there ๐
You would absolutely love this city, Rob! It’s a photographer’s paradise! I am going to post more pics of Chicago on my blog; in fact, you’ve given me some inspiration to post some photos of our “Chicago 3-flat” or, “Chicago 2-flat” buildings. Have you heard of the painter, “Kathleen Eaton?” She is from Illinois and paints pictures of these buildings.
Here, check it out if you don’t mind:

I have not heard of her before. I check out her site and from the few paintings I saw on there I like them :). I like her painting “After the Snow” better than the flat ones though ;).
You know it’s interesting, Rob, as I hadn’t heard of her either until a few years ago. She’s from just outside of Chicago. Her work is actually at one of our airports (huge murals). At first, I actually wasn’t sure about her work; and then, all of a sudden, I loved it! *LOL* Go figure. Yes, the “After the Snow” is awesome! She doesn’t paint people in her work. We bought one of her prints and I asked her about this. She said she didn’t feel she could paint people as well as she’d like to; however, I bet she could!! Cher xo
Gorgeous symmetry in that Rob.
