I recently got my hands on a new medium format film Pentax 6×7 kit. Well new to me, as they stoped making this model of the camera in 1989. However, the kit I got is in such perfect condition you could easily mistake it for a brand new camera. I have been wanting one of these cameras for a long time and I am so happy to finally own one.
I had been searching the entire country looking for a decently priced Pentax 6×7 and there was only a 5 or 6 of the cameras (that I could find) for sale in the whole country and all priced very high. Finally I stumbled on someone doing an “online garage sale” and I spotted the camera. I messaged the seller right away and told them I wanted it. At first they were reluctant to sell it to me as they lived on the east coast in New Brunswick Canada and I’m all the way west in Kelowna, BC. After days of negotiations we came up with a deal that everyone was happy with and that made them feel like it was worth it for them to pack up the camera and send it to me. Of course I was very excited, but the deal also did come with some risk as I didn’t know exactly what I was getting as the info on the camera and condition wasn’t all that good, but from what I could gather it was going to be a good deal either way.
When the camera arrived I couldn’t have been happier. I tore into the box to discover the camera and lenses were all in mint condition! I still cant believe it. I haven’t seen a better copy of this camera any where and now it’s sitting right here in my house. What a find! I made an “unboxing” video of me opening the package. If you’d like to see that just follow this link: Unboxing Video
What I got was a Pentax 6×7 MLU (mirror lock up) edition body, 55mm f/4, 105mm f/2.4, 165mm f/2.8 a Gossen Luna Pro light meter and a whole whack load of accessories. All the gear is in mint condition and I took it out last night for it’s first photo shoot and it was amazing! The shoot didn’t go exactly as planned, but more on that in a another post. ๐

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Congratulations !
Thank you ๐
The Pentax 6X7 is a great camera and it will produce super photos. Congratulations on the acquisition. I still have a Bronica 6X7 system.
Thank you Timothy! That’s great about the Bronica! I used to shoot with a Bronica 6×6 camera and loved it. I wish I never sold that one because it was really good.
I used a Bronica 6X6 for years, also. It was really solid and reliable. The photographer I worked for in the 80s and 90s used Hasselblad. His Hassies were in the shop half the time. My Bronica never failed and you couldn’t tell the difference in the quality of the photos.
You are such a riot–like a kid opening presents on Christmas! But that camera is a beauty. From the way everything was wrapped so carefully to all the stuff he sent you–wow. Cannot wait to see some photos from this one.
Haha defiantly felt like Christmas for sure! ๐
Nice Camera ๐
