His First Real Camera

I gave my 6 year old son Cameron his first real camera today. He had been asking me for one for the past 6 months and he was very clear he wanted one like mine with a proper viewfinder, so no point and shoots would do. I told him I would be keeping my eye out for a good deal on a camera for him and today was the day. Cameron is now the happy owner of a good old Canon 20D! A camera I have a lot of experience with, as I shot one for a very long time back in the 20D days. He loves the camera and I think it will suit him just fine while he dips his toes into the wonderful world of photography.

When I gave Cameron the camera he was super excited and happy! I quickly showed him the basics and he ran out the door to shoot photos. I caught up with him about 45 minutes later and he was still wondering around the block taking pictures. We passed by this tree and he ask me to hold his camera. He shot up the tree, I gave him is camera back and he started taking pictures of this dog that was sitting in the grass. I’d say he’s got the right idea about getting a unique shot. Who knows, we just might have another photographer in the family. 🙂

Cancun Reflection

exif-data-settings-rob-moses-sony-a7ii-24-70mm-zeissI shot this one in the hotel zone of Cancun Mexico. I had to walk across this ledge of a building to set up the shot. The window used in the reflection had some type of mirror coating on it and it worked wonders for the photo.

I have added a shot from my Instagram account showing where I shot this photo from. You can see the window I used for this photo on the further side of me. I was set up at the far corner.

Sun Star

I shot this on a random little path I followed off the side of a road around Banff Alberta, Canada. These excursions can be a little difficult and cold, but the results are almost always wonderful.

The Minion Tourist

rob moses exif data Canon 50D Tamron 17-50mm VCI don’t know about you, but I like these little Minions! This little toy belongs to my son and I thought it would be a fun picture to take as if the Minion was a tourist haha. The 2nd shot of him was from inside my car. The Minion was standing on the edge of the passenger side door and there is a tree with lights behind him.

Snow Rainbow

Camera: Canon 5D mark iii & 50mm 1.4 ~ Settings: f/20 – 1/160th – ISO 200

I’m sure there must be a scientific name for this snowy weather phenomenon, but I don’t know it, so I’m going with “snow rainbow” haha. I never really seen anything like it before. There was a bunch of tiny bits of snow kind of floating and blowing around and it caused this crazy rainbow light and a strange atmosphere. I’m not crazy about landscapes, but if I could get bizarre light like this more often, I’d shoot these type of photos more regularly :).

Winter Trees

I’m not a big landscape guy, but when I was driving through the country yesterday I couldn’t help but notice this row of trees. I thought it looked kind of cool so I pulled over and took a few shots. At first I thought it would have been better if the sky was completely clear and blue, but after looking at the pictures I like how the clouds kind of fade the sky in.

Christmas Selfie

If you have liked my Facebook Page then you might have already seen this picture, but if you haven’t then here it is haha. I shot this one Sunday night down the street from my house. This shot is less about me and more about the bokeh! ;).

Bright Night In This City

This shot was taken right before the snow started to fly in Calgary. It is the south-west corner of the Olympic Plaza. I really like the old building on the left side of the frame. I wish there was more of these types of buildings still around in Calgary.
