Street Shooting The Pearl

canon-6d-50mm-exif-data-rob-mosesI found myself walking down the street in the Pearl District of Portland and did a little street shooting. The color of this building really stood out to me so I held down the corner for a couple of minutes so I could get a person in my shot. This cool looking girl came around just in time :).

Selfie with a Wild Elk!

exif data rob moses a7ii 24-70mmWhile I was in Banff last weekend I saw this massive wild elk just walking down the street! I quickly pulled over, jumped out of my car and ran over with my camera. A small crown quickly gathered, everyone with their cameras and phones out. These girls were right beside me and started taking selfies, so I grabbed a couple pictures of them haha. I showed them the picture after and they laughed. I’m not sure how their selfies turned out, but this one was a keeper!

A Bike Ride to the Mayor

I was out on a bike ride along the Bow River here in Calgary taking some pictures this morning. I stopped at the Centre street bridge and shot a few photos and while I was at it I took some with my iPhone. For this shot I had a fisheye attachment called the Ollo Clip on my phone. The quality of the fisheye isn’t out of this world haha, but it’s a fun little accessory.

While I was cruising on my bike I stopped off for a drink of water at a public fountain on Princes Island. When I looked up I saw the Mayor of Calgary Naheed Nenshi walking towards me! He was with a  few people he looked to be showing around, so I said a quick hello and snapped a quick picture with my phone :).  Fun times going down in Calgary this weekend!

Calgary Winter Skyline

I posted this picture to my Twitter and personal Facebook Sunday night and got quite a positive response from people. So I thought I’d share it here with you guys too. I took this picture with my HTC One phone! The first attempt at this shot turned out a little blurry, so I looked for something to rest the phone on to steady my shot. Almost right in front of me was a square little poll with a flat surface, exactly what I needed. I rested the phone on the post and shot the photo with the in camera HDR mode. I then edited the picture with an app called Snapseed. I am super happy with how the picture turned out, goes to show you don’t need a $3000 camera to get some good shots :).

Running with a View

I was out getting some shots of the Calgary skyline yesterday and while I was there I shot a couple pictures of some girls running. This path they were running on is a great place to run because of the beautiful view of the city. I personally don’t run, but this view is almost enuf to make me take it up! haha.

Anyhow, about these pictures. The first one I shot with a Canon 5D mark iii and 50mm 1.4. The focus was a bit off (I shot at f/1.4) and it took a lot of lightroom/photoshop to bring it back from the dead, but I like the picture so I’d say it was worth it. Funny thing about this picture is I had a 2nd chance at a shot of this girl as she came by me again coming the other direction, however on my 2nd go I started shooting to early and the auto focus hit the buildings behind her, WHOOPS! As for the 2nd picture, I took that one with my HTC One phone and did the edit with the Snapseed app.

From My Phone

I love taking pictures with my phone, just as I am sure many of you do too. Since I am taking so many pictures with my phone on a daily basis, I thought why not share some of them with you guys here. Sure you don’t get the image quality that you would get using Digital SLR, but you can still get some really great images out of your phone.

These days the phone I am using is the HTC One. However I still use an iPhone 4s from time to time, as I keep both phones on the go.

The shot I have shared here with you today is part of the north side Calgary skyline. I took this yesterday while out on a little stroll around Princess Island.
