This sunset looks particularly crazy because when I shot the photo there was some massive forest fires burning in the area. The entire region was covered in smoke and Coeur d’Alene was right in the thick of it. The smoke provided quite the hazy looking sunset, so for the shot it actually helped my situation. …

Nice View
I shot a wedding in Banff, Alberta Canada this past weekend. Before I headed home I took a little rip up to this spot shot this photo. The Banff Springs Hotel sitting on the side of that mountain provides quite the magical view. Thanks for stopping by, Rob
Mexican Sunset
Last week I was enjoying this beautiful view. It’s nice to be home, but I can’t stay I don’t miss this already! This shot is a 3 raw frame HDR. I shot one photo 2 stops under, one normal and one 2 stop over. I processed the HDR in Photomatix Pro 5. Thanks for stopping …
Sun Star
Whenever I make my way out to the mountains I am reminded of how beautiful this part of the country is. I shot this on a random little path I followed off the side of a road around Banff Alberta, Canada. These excursions can be a little difficult and cold, but the results are almost …
Selfie with a Wild Elk!
While I was in Banff last weekend I saw this massive wild elk just walking down the street! I quickly pulled over, jumped out of my car and ran over with my camera. A small crown quickly gathered, everyone with their cameras and phones out. These girls were right beside me and started taking selfies, so …
The Moon
On my way home from a lovely evening spent and at an Italian restaurant downtown last night, I noticed the moon look pretty clear. As soon as I got home I quickly got my gear together and ran back out the door. I think I would have got a better shot if I was about …
Lake of the Stars
Last thursday night I took a little trip to the mountains in and effort to escape the city lights. With me being an urban type of guy, this is some what out of character for me. However, I do enjoy a bit of fresh air and a starry sky from time to time and I have …
Oh Deer Vernon
Camera: Canon 6D & 70-200mm f4 IS at 200mm ~ Settings: f/4 – 1/500th – ISO 320 Yesterday I hopped on a little plane and flew out to Vernon, BC Canada. My parents in-law live in Vernon and I met up with my wife and kids who were already here. No longer then 30 minutes …
Snow Rainbow
Camera: Canon 5D mark iii & 50mm 1.4 ~ Settings: f/20 – 1/160th – ISO 200 I’m sure there must be a scientific name for this snowy weather phenomenon, but I don’t know it, so I’m going with “snow rainbow” haha. I never really seen anything like it before. There was a bunch of tiny …
Rocky Mist
Yesterday afternoon I was driving in the western part of the city when I saw a nice light over the mountain, even thought there was loads of clouds and a bit of misty snow. I quickly (but safely) found a half decent vantage point to get a shot off. I shot a high ISO on …
Urban Geese
This is a photo from this past summer. I was making my way over the Centre Street Bridge to get some bridge shots. As I was getting a little closer to the water I noticed these two geese hanging out by the river. I slowly made my way over to them and tried not to make any …
Flying Under Moonlight
Yesterday evening I caught this WestJet flight flying under the moonlight. I waited around trying to get another shot of a jet flying right in front of the moon. I came close as you can see in the 2nd picture, however the shot was not meant to be at that moment. Next time! ;). Both photos …
Kananaskis Country
I took a drive an hour west of the city this weekend to a little place known as Kananaskis Country. There really isn’t much out there, but the forest, mountains and whatever nature has to offer. Since I live right in the city, from time to time a trip to a remote place like Kananaskis …
