I was keeping an eye on the clouds all day yesterday because I knew I was about do for a sunset picture. About an hour before sunset I knew it was going be a good one. I had the idea for this picture ready to roll so I packed up what little gear I needed for this shot, grabbed my son Cameron and headed out the door (to a park I knew we could keep our social distancing in check).
When we arrived I had Cam sit by the water while I set up a flash shooting into a bounce umbrella. Once we had the spot down we just hang and I shot a few test shots while we waited for the all the colour to hit the clouds. As soon as the sunset started kicking into high gear I started snap’n. This perfect part of the sunset doesn’t last long I knew that so each shot was carefully thought out.
One amazing thing about these pictures is the images came straight out of the camera (SOOC) like that with zero edit! I used my trusty Fujifilm X-T2 with the 35mm f/2. I was shooting jpegs + raws, but I knew I wanted to just use the jpegs so as I was shooting I tried to make sure I nailed it exactly the way I wanted it straight away. I am happy to report that the photos are exactly how I had pictured it in my mind. And thanks to the amazing camera I was using I didn’t have the sit in front of the computer for a half an hour trying to make them look like I wanted them too.
