My son Joshua (#18) is playing “Timbits” hockey this year. The team he plays for is called the Saints and they had their first real game on Saturday. Joshua had a really great game and scored 7 goals for his team! What a guy, I couldn’t have been more proud of him :). I didn’t get a shot of the crowed, as they were up and behind me and I only brought my 70-200mm. I can tell you for sure though, the crowd was fired up and really into the game. It was a super fun atmosphere.
Usually I shoot hockey pictures with my 5D mark iii, but this time I decided to bring a crop sensor camera (Canon 50D) for the extra reach. I had never been to this area before and I wasn’t sure where I was going be shooting from, so I figured I’d better have that extra reach incase I was going to be far off. The 50D’s auto focus isn’t exactly renowned and the same could be said for the high ISO capabilities. The pictures turned out ok, but the noiseย turned out to be more of an issue than I had anticipated. Ah well, live and learn! I’ll be shooting the next game with the 5D for sure.
Thanks for stopping by, Rob
These little guys look so cute! Seven goals?! I see the MVP in his future. ๐
Haha ya we’ll see! He had fun tho! ๐๐ฝ๐
I love kids playing hockey… great shots
Me too! Thank you very much :).
Big congrats, dad!!! ๐ ๐ ๐
Thanks! ๐
Two hat tricks plus one – not a bad debut at all. If the Flames become short-handed, they may be giving your son a call. ๐
