More Buildings & Lights

The Calgary skyline is forever changing. There is a new building going up that is beside the bright one in the middle that is going to be awesome. The new building kind of turns as it goes up. I’m sure that’s going to be a wonderful building to get ultra wide angle shots of. There is also another big project going on near the bottom of the photo where the bright light is. I’m not sure what’s happening, but they got what looks like the beginning of a band shell or something along those lines. Whatever it is they are doing down there I’m sure it’s going to be great! I can’t wait to see it when it’s done, I’ll probably have to bust out the ol fisheye for that one. 😉

Edmonton Night

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-5d-mark-iii-70-200mm-f4-isI was up in Edmonton this past weekend visiting some family. I hung out and chatted the evening away, but once it got into the night around 8:30, I had to burn rubber and hit the streets! I love Edmonton and I love some the beautiful views the city has to offer. Here is one of my favourite views of the city, taken from Saskatchewan Drive.

Hello Buildings

Sony a7ii

Sony a7ii

I was out for a little bike ride yesterday with my son and I stopped off to shoot this photo. The light hit the buildings quite nicely for a moment there and I like the way it was bouncing around the buildings. 🙂

So Cold in Calgary

exif data rob moses canon 6d 50mm 1.4I took this picture just over a week ago. It was a pretty cold night and rather late when I decided to head out. Even though I wore the appropriate layers, an extremely warm winter jacket, winter hat and 2 pairs of gloves, it was still freezing! I believe the temperature was around 0 degrees! (-18C). It does get even colder than that from time to time here in Calgary, but there was very cool wind that night too, so I didn’t last very long out there. I shot this photo and about 4 other frames and then packed it in haha. I didn’t even think I got anything decent and didn’t end up looking at the pictures until this weekend when I downloaded some other photos I shot. This one seemed alright and I put it on my Facebook page, so I thought I’d put it here too :).

Rings of Fire

canon 50d tamron 17-50mm vc rob moses exif dataLast night my friend Nathan and I took the Skipping Stone Bridge in Calgary with a chain and some steel wool. Nathan had wanted to shoot some of these type of photos for about a year and we finally decided to get out and do it. We would both set up our cameras and get our setting and composition the way we wanted, then Nathan would get in position, light the thing on fire and let er rip! On the first attempt the baking whisk that was holding the steel wool flew off the chain almost immediately and flew over the side of the bridge! haha. Luckily the whisk landed on the shore and not into the river. After a quick retrieval mission, the fun times were back on. 🙂

The Minion Tourist

rob moses exif data Canon 50D Tamron 17-50mm VCI don’t know about you, but I like these little Minions! This little toy belongs to my son and I thought it would be a fun picture to take as if the Minion was a tourist haha. The 2nd shot of him was from inside my car. The Minion was standing on the edge of the passenger side door and there is a tree with lights behind him.

Buildings Over Here

rob moses exif data Canon 50D Tamron 17-50mm VCI usually shoot photos of Calgary from the other side of town, because I think it looks nicer over there. From time to time I feel the need to shake things up a bit, so I grabbed this shot from the south side on my way home yesterday.

The Skipping Stone Bridge

I have been meaning to make my way down to the new Skipping Stone Bridge for some night shots for a while now and finally made it out last night. Although you can’t tell from this picture, I can assure you it was freezing out! Even with the cold, I am glad I went out. The view from the bridge is great and I’m a sucker for a good city view.

I think this picture looks a lot better in a larger size. I suggest stopping by my Facebook Page at Facebook.com/RobMosesPhotography to view it in a much larger size.

Princes Island Bridge

Just a random shot I took the other day while I was walking across the Princes Island Bridge here in Calgary. It’s kind of a wired bridge because you can feel it kind of bouncing a little bit when your standing on it. In any case, I like the view from this bridge :).

Sunset Over Calgary

I shot this on Tuesday evening off an overpass near my house. The previous day I was driving over said overpass at the exact same time I took this picture. As I crossed the overpass I saw right away what a great shot it could be, so I noted the time and came back the next day. The photo is not exactly how I had pictured it in my mind, but it’s pretty close :).

*Note: If you ever desire to see any of my pictures in a little larger size, I post most of them on my Twitter account in a larger size :). Also, sometimes I just can’t wait to get a picture out there and it might hit Twitter a day a head of here haha. Now I’m not saying go there instead of here, because this is where all the good stuff is haha ;). Just go there if you want to view a shot a little bigger.

A Nice Night in Calgary

I went out and shot some photos with a buddy of mine last night. We walked around 17th Ave shooting random things and then made our way to the top of Ramsay to get some city shots. Not a bad picture and it was a nice night to take it :).

Spring is Here!

If you follow me on Twitter or my Facebook page you might have already seen this picture, but if you don’t, then here it is for the first time! haha.

The snow is FINALLY melting around here in Calgary! I shot this one on Saturday evening just before the sun started setting.
