Madison

I noticed I haven’t posted very many people pictures on here that last little while, so I though I’d post this picture I took of Madison in the fall. This picture was part of my People of Calgary Project and was posted there. I figured since not everyone that comes here reads that blog it might be worth reposting here :).

Kal Lake

I shot this photo over the holidays in Vernon BC, Canada. My family and I went for a little walk down some train tracks and came across this little beach area down a small cliff. I shot a quick picture with my phone to test out the location and I liked the results (see Instagram pic here) so I came back another night when the water was more still. The picture didn’t turn out exactly how I had imagined. I was hoping the sky would have a little less clouds so the sunset light would have made it across the whole sky. Ah well, maybe next time :).

Bright City Sky

A little before Christmas my friend and I went out to shoot some photos when we came across this little lookout park with this nice view of the city. It’s a little uncommon of a view of Calgary, so I kind of like it for that reason. I do prefer the view looking south of the city, but this is nice too. I mainly like this vantage point because you also get a good view of the neighbourhood bellow. Anyhow, kind of an odd picture, but it’s not bad ;).

Wicked Interior

I shot this place yesterday and thought it was pretty cool, so I figured I’d share the pictures here. This place is just a few blocks down the street from my house and is selling for a whooping $1.7 MILLION Dollars! It’s a wicked house, but I would hope you could get a little more for 1.7 million, not in Calgary though.

Christmas Selfie

If you have liked my Facebook Page then you might have already seen this picture, but if you haven’t then here it is haha. I shot this one Sunday night down the street from my house. This shot is less about me and more about the bokeh! ;).

Calgary Uptown Eastside

I shot this photo of Eastside Calgary last night. The look out where I took this picture is just a few blocks away from my house, so I figured rather than watch Seinfeld or Frasier for the millionth time, I’d go out and have some fun. Right after I had set up my camera and tripod the tallest building in the middle’s alarm started going off, something I had never seen before. There was a bunch of flashing lights going up and down the building inside. I thought you might be able to tell from the picture, but it looks rather normal to me. In any case, I still like the picture and it was cool to see.

Friendly Staff

Not too long ago I found my self down at local pub watching the Calgary Flames (NHL Hockey) game with my cousin. We watched the game, had a few drinks and eventually got to chatting with some of the staff. This friendly waitress was nice enough to let me take her picture. Shooting people at 28mm has never been my thing, but I kind of like one.

Bright Night In This City

This shot was taken right before the snow started to fly in Calgary. It is the south-west corner of the Olympic Plaza. I really like the old building on the left side of the frame. I wish there was more of these types of buildings still around in Calgary.

Family Time

This nice little family is taking a look back at my last post haha. They were actually pretty nice, I was across the street shooting and they were admiring the view. At one point they turned around to me and asked me if they were “in my shot”, and offered to move if they were. Little did they know, they were the shot! ;).

Apartment With a View

There is just something about a good sunset over the Rockies that is almost magical. You get a pretty good view of it from where I was standing, but I’d imagine the view to be even better from one of those apartments! Those buildings are located on westside of downtown in Calgary, Canada. Nice location I’d say.

Big Head in The City

Calgary has a lot of public art and this massive head is one of my favourite. You can go inside of it, but you cant get one hand or foot onto it to climb with out a security guard running out to tell you there is no climbing! haha. If your ever in Calgary, it’s worth a look ;).

Warm Calgary

Winter is in full effect around Calgary these days and it makes it hard for me to want to get out there haha. So I am throwing it back to a time when I would walk outside in a T-shirt and be happy about it ;). I’ll make it out there for some winter shots one of these days haha.

Fall Flare

I’m sure it still looks like this in some places in the good ol US of A, but not here in Calgary, Canada haha. I took this picture a couple of months ago. Today I woke up to howling winds and snow this morning and decided it would be a good time to stay in and edit a couple of pictures I took earlier in the year :).

I like this picture because it’s not a typical view of Calgary you would see. This picture is over looking the neighbourhoods of Roxboro & Rideau Park, and believe it or not those buildings are in ANOTHER neighbourhood called Mission. Calgary is a strange place, in that you can walk 5 or 10 blocks and you’ll be in a different neighbourhood with another name. Personally I don’t see the point in that, but whatever haha.
