Mexican Stars & Streets

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-28mm-1-8I shot this one last year while I was staying at some resort between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I didn’t have a tripod with me at the time so I couldn’t get the composition exactly how I would have liked it. I just rested my camera on a ledge and shot a long exposure. Turned out ok, good enough to share anyhow ;). Oh and I just thought I’d add a few random street photography shots from one night when I was walking around Playa Del Carmen.

Landscape in the Night

Camera: Canon 6D & 28mm f/1.8 ~ Settings: f/2 – 15 seconds – ISO 2000

A few weeks ago a friend of mine and I went out to Drumheller, Alberta to shoot a little landscape. I acutely forgot about these pictures until this morning when I was chatting with another friend of mine and he asked how the shoot went. This shot shows how crazy the landscape out there looks.

Lake of the Stars

rob moses Canon 5D mark iii 3 16-35mm exif data

Last thursday night I took a little trip to the mountains in and effort to escape the city lights. With me being an urban type of guy, this is some what out of character for me. However, I do enjoy a bit of fresh air and a starry sky from time to time and I have a friend who is all about this type of thing. I gave my friend a call and we hit the road.

After shooting a number of shots from above a little cliff and then in the other direction all together, I decided to try getting some shots down by the lake. I had a square shaped LED flashlight with me and decided to try to see how it would look pointed at my back. I was happy with the first few attempts, but I knew I needed something just a little extra. I thought a little light on the water and in the trees would be just right, so I waited. . . And waited and waited until a I could hear a car approaching. I had the camera on a 10 second timer and a 13 second exposure, so I had hit it just at the right time for me to get the light where I wanted it. Lucky for me my estimation was about right and the light landed right where I wanted it too! That bit of light didn’t exactly make the photo, but it sure helped and was worth the wait.

Starry Sky in BC

Rob Moses exif data Sony A7R 16mm fisheye converter

I was in Revelstoke, British Columbia a couple of weeks ago and shot this photo of the night sky. Revelstoke is a small town with out a lot of light pollution, which makes for getting shots of the stars nice and easy. At first I was walking over to a location by the river, but when I when I saw this break in the trees and houses I thought it would make a better picture to have something in for foreground. The contrast of the bright yellow house seemed like a nice fit to me.

Calgary Night Skyline

I went out to shoot a few photos last night and got some skyline shots. I shot these photos from Crescent Road in Crescent Heights. That street is probably my favourite street in city. The view you get while driving or walking on Crescent Road is amazing the whole way. If your ever in Calgary a drive down Crescent Road is a must.

After I got a few photos, I saw a biker coming up a trail bellow me with some crazy lights in the spokes of his wheels. It looked kind of cool, so just for fun I zoomed out and caught him riding by the bottom of the frame. That is was the random lights are at the bottom of the 2nd picture 🙂
