Straight Out of Camera Strangers

I am the proud new owner of the Fujifilm 56mm f/1.2 lens! I just got it yesterday and I had to go test it out, but I needed some people to take pictures of. I zipped over to Crescent Road in Calgary and met some strangers who didn’t mind having their picture taken. The featured picture is of Jesis, he was shooting a time lapse so I went over and started talking to him and after some Instagraming I got a picture of him. I also met this really friendly girl who was taking pictures of the skyline with her phone. We go to talking and we made a deal that I’d take some pictures of her with her phone and then I’d take some with my camera haha. Then the black and white picture, well these guys just came up to me lol. These guys were also out taking pictures and just came over to see what kind of pictures I was getting. Of course, I had to get a shot these kindred spirits. The night was fun and I got to meet some really cool people, always bonus!

All the pictures are straight out of the camera with no edits. Except for the B&W and the city shot. I just wanted to see how the color Fuji files would turn out in a black and white conversation. And the city shot just needed a touch of contrast a tiny pull back on the highlights.

The sun was in full sunset mode casting a very warm/pinkish light here↖︎.

A Dolphin Push

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-50mm-1-4I was just walking around this Resort I was at in Cancun last year when I stumbled upon this. The dolphins would push people around in this pool by their feet! It was amazing to see and looked like it would be a lot of fun. I personally can’t support locking up any type on animals (btw I do not look down on people that do, that’s just how I feel) so I didn’t try it myself, but this lady seemed to be enjoying herself. 🙂

Mustachio

rob-moses-exif-data-canon-5d-mark-iii-50mm-1-4I was kicking around the Kensington neighbourhood here in Calgary on Saturday night when I spotted this guy on the street. You could see the mustachio pop’n off right away and there was no way I wasn’t going to get a picture. I just walked up to him and said “Hey man, can I take your picture?” He said “Sure!” he smiled, I took the shot and it was all over in about 8 to 10 seconds. I love these kind of quick interactions with strangers on the street, it always makes for a more interesting night.

Fun Waiting

This is my sister in-law Marie and her boyfriend Ryan. We were sitting in the lobby of our hotel waiting for something and they seemed to be having quite the time, so I snapped this photo of them :).

Ski Hill Selfie

I was up at the ski hill today and snapped this quick selfie with my phone (iPhone 4s). I thought the picture looked kind of cool, so I thought I’d share it here :). I did a quick edit with the Snapseed app on the picture.

Zoom Zoom City of Seattle

The only reason I’m posting this picture is because that fire truck says “City of Seattle” on the side of it and I love Seattle! haha. When I took this I was walking out of an art supply store and saw zooming by. I quickly threw my camera in front of my face and snapped this shot. Not much to it really, but I got what I needed from it :).

That Shaw TV Thing

The People of Calgary

Hey guys (& gals), here is that Shaw TV thing I mentioned in the last couple posts! It was produced by Shiva Jahanshah (@ShivaJahanshah). We filmed this at the Core shopping centre downtown in Calgary. For people who have never been here, it is just what it sounds like, the major shopping centre in the downtown core :). We started off with a little interview and then they had do my thing and talk to some strangers. I think I sound a little weird in the very beginning, but what are ya gonna do haha.

Thank you so much for putting that together Shiva! We gotta get you on here one of these days ;).

A Rare Brick Wall

Brick buildings are somewhat rare here in Calgary, Canada. This is an extra random picture and I the only reason I even took it is because I just like brick for some reason haha. I wasn’t ever going to post it any where, but I thought I’d just toss it up here for the hell of it on a Saturday afternoon :).

Joe – Checking Out Calgary

I haven’t shared anything from here in a while. 🙂

The People of Calgary

I was recently contacted by a lovely woman by the name of Shiva Jahanshah about about doing a little profile on me and this blog for her TV show (“Who’s Who”). Of course I said I would be up for such a thing and we made arrangements to meet. When we met we did a quick interview and then they filmed me doing my thing talking to Strangers. Joe was the first person I had asked and he agreed to do it! Right after I was done talking to Joe, Shiva did a quick wrap up with him for the show. Here is what Joe had to say :).

Run For It!

As you may know from my last post I was out on a little country drive on Friday. While I was driving I noticed a group of Elk & Deers on the side of the road up a hill, however they were to far to get a good picture, since the longest focal length lens I had on me was a Canon 70-300mm DO IS. Then about 50 yards down the road on the other side I noticed another group of Elk/Deer grazing a lot closer and to top it off there was a place for me to pull over! I quickly pulled in and grabbed my camera which was sitting on the seat next to me, jumped out and started shooting. I started whistling at them in the hopes to get a little action out of them. One of the deer didn’t like the whistling much at all and started running for it! The next thing I knew they were all bouncing across the field toward the fence, and once they got there they just started leaping over it like it was nothing! Amazing, to say the least. I grabbed a few more shots as they ran up the hill to joint their pals and then I hopped back in my car and drove back to the city. Sometimes living in Canada aint all that bad ;).

My Random Car

This is just a random snapshot I took of my car one evening when I was out for a skyline shot. It is a rather noisy picture, so I figured it would be salvageable in black and white :).

Extra Random

This picture is extra random because this Metro Newspaper box has no business sitting there! In hindsight I should have shot a really wide-angle of this photo to show exactly where it is, but since I didn’t I’ll just tell you. It’s sitting by the bench on a baseball field! haha. The first time I saw it, it was actually sitting ON the bench and it made me laugh. Then like a week later, it was still there (but on the ground), so I decided to grab a quick picture of it 🙂
