The Governor

The first morning I woke up in Mazatlán I noticed quite the ruckus going on down on the street. There were loads of police and military people out in front of our building. I also noticed some military helicopters and boats roaming around. I didn’t get the feeling anything was wrong though, because everyone seemed to be in good spirts, even the ones holding machine guns lol.

I could also see a lot reporters wondering around, so I knew something big was going on. After watching the circus for a little while a black SUV pulled up and someone seemingly important got out, a woman. She was immediately surrounded by reporters. This woman would turn out to be the Mayor of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios García.

Then Another SUV pulled up and this time a seemingly even more important person got out. The reporters were going bananas! The man that had arrived turned out to be the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya. This would explain all the hoopla sounding this meeting.

I should have taken more pictures, because the ones I took don’t even do the scene justice as there was way more military and police around than I showed. Anyhow, it was a pretty interesting thing to watch. I can’t recall what exactly they were there for, but I think something about safety maybe. Anyhow, I don’t think I ever felt more safe in my life with all those police and Military people around haha. What a show to start off that trip!

Thanks for stopping by, Rob

  1. Rob Moses–wedding photographer, tourist developer, sports photographer, and our man on the street reporting on national events. Holy moley! I’m glad this turned out to be nothing to be worried about because with the National Guard and helos overhead…I’d have been ducking for cover!

    • LOL you’re hilarious! It was actually really cool and I was thankful to witness it all go down from our balcony. That helicopter actually got really close to our building. I’ll post another picture of the helicopter when it was closer to our building soon.
