I was just sitting on this random bench taking in the city when this taxi pulled up. He parked right in front of me. Naturally I pointed my camera at him. I waited for him to turn his head and look at me and then I shot this photo haha. He was a nice guy and asked me if I was in town on vacation. Then he got out of his taxi and we proceeded to have a longer conversation in Spanish that I mostly could not understand. He never figured out I wasn’t a native Spanish speaker because all my answers were really short lol. But he did tell me a place where I could get some nice pictures and he was right, so thanks for that! Super nice guy.

The taxi driver might have figured out you weren’t a Spanish speaker with your short answers. When my Aunty Ginny went down to Mexico, she rode with Uber or Lyft, and the drivers for the most part understood English and could converse in English. She did take a taxi from the airport to her hotel when she first arrived. The driver figured out Ginny wasn’t a Spanish speaker, but it didn’t stop him from talking. Ginny did what you did, kept her part of the conversation with short sentences.
