Sunset Over Calgary

I shot this on Tuesday evening off an overpass near my house. The previous day I was driving over said overpass at the exact same time I took this picture. As I crossed the overpass I saw right away what a great shot it could be, so I noted the time and came back the next day. The photo is not exactly how I had pictured it in my mind, but it’s pretty close :).

*Note: If you ever desire to see any of my pictures in a little larger size, I post most of them on my Twitter account in a larger size :). Also, sometimes I just can’t wait to get a picture out there and it might hit Twitter a day a head of here haha. Now I’m not saying go there instead of here, because this is where all the good stuff is haha ;). Just go there if you want to view a shot a little bigger.

Beautiful Creek in Penticton BC

While I was in Penticton BC, this summer I saw many beautiful scenes. This scene was one of my favourite and I just stumbled upon it. I was walking a long a very random path because I decided I wanted to park in a little further away from my destination so I could take in some more of the town. While walking I noticed the beautiful light shining into the trees. I ran over, found a good vantage point and waited for some one to cross the bridge. The first person had a dog, BONUS! These little decisions don’t always work out, but I’d say it did on this day :).

Horse Jumping at Spruce Meadows

On Saturday afternoon a friend of mine and I went to check out the horse jumping show at Spruce Meadows here in Calgary. The show was being televised live on CBC television. We got there a bit late and were only around to see a small number of riders, but it was a really fun time. I’ll be heading to the next show for sure :). The big winner for the day was man by the name of Jaime Azcarraga and that was the only name I caught haha.

Olympic Flame

When Canada wins a gold medal in the Olympics, Calgary lights up its Olympic flame for a short period (an hour or so I believe). The day before I shot these I saw the flame on from my bedroom window and thought I’d go out and shoot some photos that night. However after making plans to go with a friend he later informed me the flame was out and filled me in the details. So when I got home yesterday evening I saw that it was on again! I wasn’t going to miss it this time. As soon as that sun started going down I was out the door. It was FREEZING OUT, but it’s not often the opportunity arises to get a shot with the Calgary Tower lit up like it was 1988 (the year the Olympics were held here), so I’m happy I went.

Random Flares of Light

Sometimes I get board and take random, meaningless pictures that have no business being taken. Like this one here haha. I grabbed my camera to do a couple test shots (with different lens) and the next thing I knew I was walking between these buildings where I saw some nice light shining through. There was really no picture to be had there, but I forced this one because I just liked the light at that moment. Oh, and I like shooting into the sun from time to time for the flare. 😀
