Selfie On a Ledge

I was out taking pictures on the weekend and I was setting up for a shot of the city. While I was deciding where to shoot from I noticed this little ledge off the balcony I was standing on. The ledge looked easy enough to get onto so I thought I might as well hop onto it and do a self portrait. At first I was just looking at the camera normal. I had my D800E set to shoot 3 photos and on the 3rd one I just decided to pull my hood up and look at the camera. This is not how I normally am in front of the camera, but it’s good do do something different from time to time. 🙂

An Old Friend

This is a dear old friend of mine from back in the day! Her name is Geraldine and we used to kick around Vancouver together. Sadly we have both since moved on to different cities. As you probably know I am in Calgary and Geraldine is surprisingly not far off up in Edmonton! Anyhow, we met up for lunch yesterday here in Calgary while she was passing through on her way to Canmore. It’s always fun catching up with old friends and what a better way to remember new memories but with a picture, so I took some. 😉

4 Brands, 1 Photo

I was just doing some example shots to show how the Pentax-A 50mm 1.7 performs on my Fujifilm X-Pro1. I kind of like the picture, so I thought I might as well share it. The camera in the picture is my Sony a7ii with a Canon 16-35mm f2.8 ii attached with a Metabones adapter. It was only the moment I decided to share the photo that I realized I had 4 different camera companies going on here to shoot this one photo haha. Kind of hilarious and kind of weird at the same time. 😜

High Bridge in Spokane

I was kicking around Browns Addition in Spokane one day last fall and found this nice view over looking High Bridge Park. One look at the picture I took and you can guess as to how they came up with the name haha. Although the park name may be simple, it is definitely accurate because that is one super high bridge!

Rugby Wedding: Lindsay & Vinny

Clearly Lindsay and Vinny both love Rugby! Oh and their cute dog, who played a big part in their wedding. When I first met with Lindsay and Vinny they told me they wanted to do some type of Ruby wedding shots and right away I was excited, because I had never done any wedding shots like that and I knew it would be fun. When wedding time came around it wasn’t often I didn’t see that ruby ball kicking around and their dog was definitely there for everything too. Lindsay and Vinny were super fun and easy to work with. Their wedding party and parents were a joy to be around and I think we all had a wonderful time together!

Note: The two people who caught the bouquet and garter belt(it was on the ball) are a couple. 🙂

Thanks for a fun wedding Lindsay & Vinny!

Autumn Spokane View

The last time I went to Spokane in the fall I got a pretty wicked room that had this beautiful view! The deck was actually massive and I really should have got a picture of it, but I guess I forgot haha. Anyhow, if you want a good view this hotel (The Red Lion) has a lot of good rooms with nice views.

I thought might as well add a picture of myself on the the deck too ;).

Special Delivery Spokane

I was walking around this neighbourhood (South Hill) with a friend of mine in Spokane. We had just took a stroll in a nearby park when this mail truck caught my eye. I thought the beautiful house the mailman was in front of made a nice little scene, so I snapped this photo.

Morning Sun

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-5d-mark-iii-50mm-1-4I just caught the sun peaking over this massive mountain in Banff. Whenever I think of “The Rockies”, it’s a mountain exactly like this that comes to mind. Fun to catch it with the warm sun coming into the picture.

Spokane River Warmth

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-24-70mm-l-f2-8I was kicking around the Spokane River this weekend. The weather was pretty warm and it made for a leisurely stroll around the river. I’m not sure what the temperature was, but it was warm enough that I wasn’t at all concerned about comfortably at any point. When you got November weather like that, it’s easy to hang out and take pictures all night long. 🙂

Lake House Wedding: Sunyoung & Santi

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-24-70mm-f2-8-l-5d-mark-iiiAnytime I book a wedding in late October or early November in Calgary I worry about how the weather will be. Usually this time of year we are walking around in snow! Sunyoung and Santi’s November wedding definitely had me concerned about what kind of weather we were going to be dealing with. Lucky for us, the weather was great! Well, at first it was decent, as in not snowing or cold. Since the ceremony was indoors the overcast sky didn’t really bother me.

Of course the ceremony went wonderful and since this was a day wedding we had an amazing lunch at the Lake House at Lake Bonavista. As usual I was moving around the venue shooting my photos, all while keeping my eye on the windows to see how the skies were looking. Once it was time for us to leave the venue to our photo shoot the skies had yet to clear up. Overcast can be a wonderful friend while shooting wedding photos, but some blue sky and sun is always nice too. Either way I’ll make it work, but then I saw a few breaks in the sky and had my fingers crossed for a bit of sun.

As luck would have it, about 20 minutes into our photo shoot the sun decided to make an appearance and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! We had just finished setting up by the river and wa-la, the sun! I couldn’t have been happier and I am sure Sunyoung & Santi feel the same way.

All photos shot with a Canon 5D mark iii, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 & 1 580EXii Speedlite

On The Railing

sony-a850-minolta-100mm-f2-8-macro-rob-moses-exif-dataI was out for a walk around the neighbourhood with my son Joshua yesterday evening. I wanted to shoot a photo with my Minolta 100mm lens and I figured I’d find something to shoot a long the way. When we got to the spot in the picture, my son suggested I just take a picture of him. I’m glad he made the suggestion, because I love how the photo turned out.

Doable Winter

exif data Canon 550D t2i Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 VC rob mosesWe are finally having some winter weather I can actually deal with in Calgary! It has been around 7C (44F) mark for the past couple weeks and it is only getting warmer in the forecast! I don’t know how long it can stay like this, but I’ll take whatever I can get. The warm weather makes for good photo taking! I shot this one morning while I was out for a little walk last weekend. I shot this same photo before the guy came along and I just wasn’t feeling it with no one in the picture. Lucky for me a few minutes later this guy came strolling and long and I got a few shots off as he crossed the bridge. These kind of pictures are always better with person in the frame.
