River Rocks

Lens: Vivitar 28mm f2 @f2

I was down by the river the other night shooting some photos. I came across this stack of rocks set up just perfectly to shoot a photo. I was using my Vivitar manual focus lens and it was the perfect lens for this shot. The lens blurred the photo just enough to give good separation from the background, but you are still able to make out what is back there. I love those blurry bits!

Sunny Beach

Screen Shot 2017-05-20 at 3.11.10 PM

I took this picture while I was down in Cancun Mexico last. This particular beach seemed to get a ton of sun and had some really beautiful blue water. The sand was nice, the people were cool and I loved it! I kinda wish I was there right now to be honest with you. čśÄ

Bow River Night

Shot at f/16

I shot this one on Saturday night from underneath the Skipping Stone Bridge on St. Patricks Island (in Calgary). I was using my Fujifilm X-E1 with an old Canon FD mount Vivitar 28mm f/2 close focus lens. The camera and lens performed wonderfully together. This shot is straight out of the camera (other than a slight touch of straightening). Getting pictures like this straight out of the camera is the exact reason I got interested in Fujifilm cameras and I must say they are living up to the hype!

The 2nd picture I had to color correct a touch because under the bridge there are these blue LED lights and it looked really crazy haha. I┬ádidn’t spend a ton of time doing it either as you can probably tell ;).

Spring Nights

Lens: Canon FD 50mm f/1.2

Spring nights in Calgary can be beautiful. The city lights always do the right thing for me and this night was no different. The lights were bright and the sky was amazing, can’t ask for much more than that to take a nice city┬ápicture.

That Sunset

Canon FD 50mm 1.2 shot @f/16

I shot this photo on Saturday night. The sunset was amazing, but there was a lot of parking lot in the middle of the picture that I didn’t like. I thought I’d hop in there and maybe make the picture a little more interesting. Not to mention giving me a change to show off my cool new Cultural Blends hoodie.čśť

Spokane Nights

I love wandering the streets of Spokane at night looking for photos. Riverfront park is probably one of my favourite parts of the city. There are tons of great locations to shoot photos in a very condensed area. This view is one of my favourite of the city. I love locations where I can sit, enjoy an urban park by the water with the view of a beautiful city.

A Downtown View

I shot this one from Tom Campbell Park by my house in Calgary. I don’t live to far from this place and on my way home one night last summer I decided to stop by and shoot a photo with my 300mm. Earlier in the night I was out with a friend of mine shooting some photos a lot farther away from the city, I thought I might stop off here and see what kind of results I got a little closer in. Not a bad shot, but then again it’s pretty easy to get a decent shot from Tom Campell Park.

TriMet to the Bridge

rob-moses-exif-data-settings-canon-6d-50mm-1-4I had just walked across this bridge in Portland and saw the train coming up. One quick shot later and I had this picture. If I had a little more time to think I probably would have shot this with a slower shutter speed to show some movement in the train. I guess I’ll have to wait till next time┬áto have another go at it.

The 2nd photo is just shot I took of myself while I was taking pictures off the top of this┬áparking garage. čÖé

Spokane River Warmth

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-24-70mm-l-f2-8I was kicking around the Spokane River this weekend. The weather was pretty warm and it made for a leisurely stroll around the river. I’m not sure what the temperature┬áwas, but it was warm enough that I wasn’t at all concerned about comfortably at any point. When you got November weather like that, it’s easy to hang out and take pictures all night long. čÖé

Big City Sky

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-5d-mark-iii-70-200mm-f2-8-isIf your a photographer in Calgary and you didn’t make it out to shoot last night, you missed out! The sky was amazing at dusk and my good friend Nathan Somes and I were out there taking it all in. The idea to shoot was a bit of a last minute thing and we were racing out the door to make it before the sky went black on us. Clearly we made it, and just in the nick of time!

After we shot this location we went to shoot a couple more and we saw these people shooting off some little fireworks. I just happen to have my 2X extender on at the time and was able to grab a quick shot of that too! It was a good night to be out shooting photos.┬áčÖé

No Option to Zoom

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-5d-mark-iii-300mm-f2-8I love taking pictures of the city at night. When I went to shoot photos on this night I took only one lens, my Canon 300mm f/2.8. Sometimes I’ll leave the house with only one lens, because I find it forces me into photos I might not otherwise shoot. This shot is pretty tight in and I probably would have zoomed out a bit if I had the option. After looking at the pictures on my computer, I am glad the option to zoom out was unavailable,┬ábecause I like the picture as it is.

Early Winter

Minolta 50mm f/1.4

Winter has hit a little early in Calgary this year! I decided to head out and take a look around the city last night and see how it┬álooked. It was pretty foggy out and I think the fog really added something nice to the picture. It looks quiet to me, and it was. I guess everyone was inside trying to stay warm. čśë

Shiny & New

exif-data-rob-moses-sony-a850-minolta-100mm-f2-8-macroWe got a shiny new building (Brookfield Place) going up in Calgary and it’s almost done! The building is┬ásuper bright right now compared to all the others. I am sure it won’t stay THAT bright, but I hope it still keeps some of that sparkly shine to it. čÖé
