His First Real Camera

I gave my 6 year old son Cameron his first real camera today. He had been asking me for one for the past 6 months and he was very clear he wanted one like mine with a proper viewfinder, so no point and shoots would do. I told him I would be keeping my eye out for a good deal on a camera for him and today was the day. Cameron is now the happy owner of a good old Canon 20D! A camera I have a lot of experience with, as I shot one for a very long time back in the 20D days. He loves the camera and I think it will suit him just fine while he dips his toes into the wonderful world of photography.

When I gave Cameron the camera he was super excited and happy! I quickly showed him the basics and he ran out the door to shoot photos. I caught up with him about 45 minutes later and he was still wondering around the block taking pictures. We passed by this tree and he ask me to hold his camera. He shot up the tree, I gave him is camera back and he started taking pictures of this dog that was sitting in the grass. I’d say he’s got the right idea about getting a unique shot. Who knows, we just might have another photographer in the family. πŸ™‚

A Dolphin Push

exif-data-rob-moses-canon-6d-50mm-1-4I was just walking around this Resort I was at in Cancun last year when I stumbled upon this. The dolphins would push people around in this pool by their feet! It was amazing to see and looked like it would be a lot of fun. I personally can’t support locking up any type on animals (btw I do not look down on people that do, that’s just how I feel) so I didn’t try it myself, but this lady seemed to be enjoying herself. πŸ™‚

Tokie The Cat

Sony a7ii & 55mm 1.8

Sony a7ii & 55mm 1.8

This lovely little creature is my wife’s parents family cat. Her name is Tokie and the shenanigans she has caused over the years has been that of legend. To keep things as brief as possible I will tell you just one Tokie Tale.

Last summer while visiting, I was letting Tokie inside before I went to bed. I open the front door and call for her. Sure enough like a good cat she comes prancing up to the door. As Tokie is nonchalantly walking by, I kind of notice something by her face. I close the door and scurry over to her as she’s walking down the stairs. When I stop her to get a better look I see a scene that looks straight out of a cartoon. There it is, a little tail wiggling around!!! “TOKIE!” I got her trapped half way down the staircase at a corner turn and lunge forward to grab her. In true cartoon style she spits the little mouse out! LOL The next thing I know I am franticly shoeing away a cat and trying to save a mouse. The mouse lays on the floor for 2 or 3 seconds as Tokie makes a run for it, then BOING! The mouse is back up on all fours and dashing from one way to the next. As I try and keep him in the corner I call for back up (waking up more than a few people I’m sure). Once the calvary arrives we get the mouse in tupperware container and back out the front door to fight another day. That mouse had one hell of a story to tell and just by the fur of his neck he had the chance to tell it. πŸ™‚

Tokie the cat is a wild one to say the least, but I wouldn’t (and neither would she) have it any other way!

Cat

a6000 & Soligor 28mm f/2.8 @ 2.8

This is my little pal who goes by many names in our house. My two favourite are “Cat” and “Stinky”πŸ˜…. This picture was really random. It was just a test shot and not a lot of thought or time went into it. I kind of like how it turned out though so it thought I would share it. I shot this photo on a Sony a6000 with an old manual focus Canon FD mount Soligor 28mm f/2.8. Pretty good combination if you ask me.

Doggie from a Walk

rob moses exif data canon t2i tamron 17-50mmOn Sunday I went to this cool Instagram meet up put on by @YYCinstameets. Everyone met up by the store down the street from my house and then we all went on a photo walk around my neighbourhood. It was pretty cool! This cute little doggy came along for the trip and I snapped this shot of him at the end of the walk.

Since this was an Instagram thing I figured I’d just share my Instagram picture from the day rather than a bunch of pictures here :). If your on Instagram, give me a follow and I’ll follow you back!

Fetch

Canon 5D mark iii 70-300mm DO IS exif data

I was driving by this park the other day and I had never seen it before. As I drove I could see it was rather hilly, so I decided to take a little drive around to see if there was any good photos to be had. I landed on this location and thought I might get a good skyline shot. Then this lady started playing fetch with her dog. Perfect! With out that dog in the shot it would be a little boring. Nothing like a bit of mans best friend to spice up a photo ;).

Uninterested Cat

The night before last I tried getting a picture of my other cat, but he wasn’t having any of it! I couldn’t even get the other cat to look in my general direction haha. Β So last night Β I decided to give it another go with my other cat “Panda Bear”. This guy wasn’t exactly into it either and this shot was the 2nd one of 2 I was able to shoot before he ran upstairs to hide under the bed haha. I’ll try again another time :).

Buster Doggy

This is my neighbours little doggy, “Buster”. I took these pictures during the summer while we were having a bit of a block party. The cat he is playing with is my cat and his name is “Mittens” haha. I know, I know, I didn’t choose that name, trust me! ;).
