Winter Rocky Mountains

Well it’s still very much winter around here (in Alberta)! But at least it make the mountains look nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunset Over There

I went out on Sunday night hopping to get a shot of the sunset over the Eastside of downtown Calgary. I stopped off at couple different spots before landing on this location. I made my way down the side of this little hill, set my camera up and waited. Unfortunately there were too many clouds over the mountains to the west and not enough over the buildings over the east side of the city. Not all was lost though, because I was able to get this shot and to be honest I am happy things worked out the way they did, because I would never have set out to take this angle and now that I see the finished product I rather like it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rocky Mountain Sun

I was out in Banff, Alberta this past weekend on a little family ski trip. The weather was pretty cold and it was snowing most of the time so I didn’t get a chance to take many pictures. I shot this photo on the day we left right before we headed home. The pictures from the ski hill are just some snaps I took with my GoPro.

Snowy Edmonton

I was up in Edmonton last weekend and it was super cold and snowy! I stopped off at my favourite photo spot and shot a few quick city shots before I left town.

Great Falls Sunset

I don’t get down to Montana as much as one might think you would living in Calgary. It’s relatively close to get down there, but every time I leave the city I find myself wanting to get back to Washington or Oregon and that’s where I usually go. I think I am going to make an effort to find my way around Montana this summer and check out more of what the state as to offer. I shot this photo in Great Falls, Montana.

Bridgeland

This is a not so common view of part of my neighbourhood where I live in Calgary. I shot this photo with a 300mm lens, so the compression kind of makes everything seem rather close together. Anyhow, if you know the area it’s probably more interesting to you, but if you don’t I still think it’s a nice picture to look at (in a larger size). ๐Ÿ™‚

Autumn in Calgary

I shot this photo a few weeks ago and wasn’t going to share it because I thought it would make a better night shot. Then I figured there is no reason to not share both. I took this picture from the parking garage of a local college (SAIT). I was looking for portrait locations and while I was looking around I just snapped this photo for the heck of it. It aint bad, maybe a little heavy on the parking lot though.

Through The Trees

It’s a pretty good view through the trees right here! You can’t see the river because of the trees, but I’d rather stare at buildings anyhow. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Banff National Park

I shot this photo while heading up the Gondola in Banff National Park. The view from the Gondola ride is amazing and if you ever find your self in Banff it is definitely worth a look! Even if you’re not crazy about mountains, the views will not disappoint.

Minolta City

I was about to toss this old camera in the trash when I I took a look at the mirror after I took the lens off. I thought it looked pretty cool with the little lines and then I though I might be able to get a good photo if I incorporated the mirror of the camera. Since I’m a city guy I thought having part of the city in the background and in the camera would look pretty cool. I like how it turned out ๐Ÿ™‚

I shot this photo with a Sony a7R with a Nikon Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 micro.

Apartment Life

I was out for dinner with my wife and her parents at the Calgary Tower a couple weeks ago. I shot this photo with my Canon s120, which is a pretty awesome little point and shoot camera. The picture isn’t perfect, but it gives you a good idea of what that part of town looks like. A lot of apartment buildings over there for sure!

YYC Iron Horse

This cool horse is right in the middle of downtown here in Calgary. It is in this really cool city park that is attached to a train station. I don’t often find myself in this park, but every time I do I take a minute to admire the art.

A couple years ago I took another picture of one of these statues at night. You can see that picture here: Click Me!

High Bridge in Spokane

I was kicking around Browns Addition in Spokane one day last fall and found this nice view over looking High Bridge Park. One look at the picture I took and you can guess as to how they came up with the name haha. Although the park name may be simple, it is definitely accurate because that is one super high bridge!
