The First Shot

I decided to go out to shoot a photo pretty late in the evening yesterday. I honestly had no plans to go out, but inspiration hit me just as the sun was about to set. I grabbed my camera, hopped in my car and started driving to the Westside to hopefully get a shot of the city before the sun set over the mountains. As I was driving across the bridge I knew it was already too late. I could see the light had already passed over most of the city. It was at this point I knew I had to pull over and shoot whatever photo I could as soon as possible because any bit of colour from the sunset was minutes away from disappearing.

I took the first exit off the bridge and pulled into this marina on the Westside of Kelowna. I honestly didn’t know what I was going to shoot as I pulled into the parking lot. That was until I saw this perfect little spot I could pull my car into. So I backed in the spot parked the car and shot this photo. This shot was the very first picture I took and to be honest it was the only one I needed because moments later the colour reflected in the lake was gone. Sure if you never knew it was there who cares, but I knew so nothing else was going to look as good as that first shot.

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
