YYC Iron Horse

This cool horse is right in the middle of downtown here in Calgary. It is in this really cool city park that is attached to a train station. I don’t often find myself in this park, but every time I do I take a minute to admire the art.

A couple years ago I took another picture of one of these statues at night. You can see that picture here: Click Me!

Flashy Horse

rob moses exif data canon 6d 50mm 1.4I have wanted to shoot this photo for a while now. This little public park is at one of the train stations downtown. One day when I got off the train at this stop I was checking out these iron art pieces. The idea for this photo came to me soon after that visit. The reason it took me so long to get this shot is it was quite the production and a bit of hassle to get. I had to pack up my camera with a few different lenses (incase 50mm didn’t look right), flashes, flash triggers, 2 light stands and a tripod. As you can image, walking around with this much gear isn’t exactly a good time haha. Anyhow, I’m glad I finally got the shot, because it is exactly how I pictured it in my mind.

The set up for this shot was 2 Canon 580EX ii’s behind the horse. I set the flashes 2 stops over and shot the photo about 2 stops under.

Old Country Bridge

I was out shooting a house in a small town called Cochrane yesterday. The town is about 20 minutes outside of the city and is a nice little community from what I saw. I had shot houses in this community before and I always noticed this old bridge from the top of a large hill as your driving in.  For no apparent reasons, I felt today was the day I would get a picture of this bridge. When I found the bridge, I of course drove over it just to drive over it haha, but the funny thing about this bridge is it really leads to no where. On the other side of the river is a privet road and what looks to be a farm. Pretty nice bridge for a couple of luck people I’d say :).

Big Head in The City

Calgary has a lot of public art and this massive head is one of my favourite. You can go inside of it, but you cant get one hand or foot onto it to climb with out a security guard running out to tell you there is no climbing! haha. If your ever in Calgary, it’s worth a look ;).
