While I was shooting the city photo in the pervious post this friendly deer was just hanging out with me the entire time. I saw him right when I walked up the spot I was going to shoot from. I said hi and he saw me, but he didn’t seem bothered by my presents at all. He just sat there relaxing and eating a bit of grass from time to time. I love seeing these deer, but this one I really enjoyed. We kind of both hung out there on the side of mountain for a bit, both doing our own thing in totally peace. That’s how it should be. Hopefully I’ll see him again one day.

Thanks for stopping by, Rob
What a lovely surprise, and a beautiful portrait. Have you ever been asked to take pet portraits? This is really pretty, Rob.
Thank you Lois! Actually when I was first getting started in the professional photography industry I started out doing pets. It wasn’t exactly as lucrative as I’d hopped so I ended up moving in different directions. But it was fun for sure. 🙂
Always cool to have this experience.
While we’re accustomed to seeing wildlife where we live, they are always a pleasant surprise to see them closer to people. At our small office, in town, we frequently see wild turkeys (they do fly). More recently, deer have been observed. When our staffer went outside to take a photo of a visiting deer, the deer stopped for their close-up before going on its way. Probably wondered if Kris had treats. It’s you leave them, they’ll leave you alone. And, oh, the wildlife people prefer if we don’t dispense treats. 🦌🦌🦌
Oh that’s great! Ya it’s so nice to be around wildlife when they are friendly and not particularly scared. Well within reason. I’m not trying to walk down the street and see a grizzly bear or anything haha.
That’s a beautiful photo, in most photos that I see of animals they tend to look nervous. Rarely do they look relaxed, especially if they know a human (or any other animal for that matter) is about. But this one looks completely relaxed in it’s natural environment. Just lovely 🙂
Thank you so much James. I’m glad you like the photo. That deer was really a treat.
